Hanger-Project 2

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IDEO--The things that don't need modification are the things that we find in nature. Everything that you see that is not nature is designed and has to go through a process that involves a lot of hours. Safety always emerges early as an important issue in design. You can't have a hierarchy when you are designing something because no one knows that one thing "best". The trick is to finding experts so that you can learn quickly instead of by yourself. You should do one project at a time, stay focused, and build ideas off of others. You have to have wild ideas, then you build on those wild ideas and they become better. Ideas are not organized, what they are, is organized chaos. Try new stuff and ask for forgiveness, not permission. This is how you come up with new ideas. It is nice to build a product but if you can create a culture in a process, that is ideal. Always remember, chaos is constructive.

Interviews:
How do you store your clothes?
-       In a closet, on the extra row on bottom (hangs from the top)
-       On hangers and in drawers and on racks
Do you use clothes hangers?
-       Yes
-       Yes it makes my shirts pointy at the shoulders
How could it be improved?
-       Tank tops slip off and strapless shirts are hard to hang
-       Softer and padded
Would pop culture themes make you by more hangers?
-       No
-       No
What other functions can you use your hanger for?
-       Roasting marsh mellows and holding belts
-       Popping a lock open in a car
Do you like the material of your hanger?
-       I could go classier, thinner hangers
-       It’s fine
If it cots more but works better, would you fork out more money for it?
-       No I’d rather spend money on clothes
-       Yes if it’s only 5 dollars
Does the appearance of your hanger matter?
-       No
-       Not particularly
What clothes do you hang up?
-       Literally everything because I have an additional closet
-       Only nice shirts
Would you like hangers to take up space more effectively?
-       Yes, I’d like thinner ones
-       Yes!
 ----------------------------------------------
What I learned about the object:

I learned that my object is not appealing to many people and that it is rather a nuisance to those who love clothes. Those who don’t exactly care about their clothes don’t necessarily care about their hangers what so ever. This product is made for people who don’t want indentions or stiffness due to strange creases in hangers.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Interview about the final prototype:
Is this prototype design appealing?
-       Yes it looks professional
-       Yes I like it
Is this prototype eco friendly looking?
-       Yes, it looks like hemp
-       Yes I Guess
Would you buy this at the store?
-       Yes I would
-       Yes if it was cheap
Does this product look cheap or expensive?
-       Cheap
-       Expensive, so I wouldn’t by it
Does this product work?
-       Yes
-       Yes
Do you think this is storage/travel friendly?
-       Yes because it rolls up
-       Yes, I like that you can roll it up
Do you feel this is sturdy or flimsy?
-       Pretty sturdy
-       Flimsy by itself by sturdy enough to hang clothes
Is this good design?
-       Looks like good design
-       Yes it is

Response to Objectified

There is a decision made in every object. A main purpose is decided right when it is designed. Every object has a story, if you know how to read it. This object has an audience, someone who uses it every single day. Seventy percent of the world is completely impractical, this object does not contribute to impracticality rather then makes like easier. You are making a statement about yourself to yourself when you are using this. When the person who designed this medium sized scissors they stimulated your soul and mind, you understand what the extremes are and the middle has taken care of itself.
